Program Description

This course focuses on leveraging Autodesk Revit and Robot Structural Analysis Professional to design, analyze, and document structural systems in compliance with British Standards (BS) and Eurocodes. You will learn to integrate the power of Building Information Modeling (BIM) with structural analysis tools to create robust and efficient structural designs. Starting with structural modeling in Revit, participants will seamlessly export models to Robot Structural Analysis for in-depth analysis and validation, including wind simulation. Once the analysis is complete, the results will be interpreted and integrated back into Revit for documentation and detailing.
By the end of the course, participants will gain hands-on experience in structural design workflows that connect modeling, wind simulation, analysis, and documentation in a cohesive process.

What You Will Learn
1. Introduction to Structural Design with Revit and Robot Structural Analysis
  • Overview of British Standards (BS) and Eurocodes for structural design.
  • Interface navigation and essential tools in Revit and Robot Structural Analysis.
  • Setting up project units and structural templates in Revit.
2. Structural Modeling in Revit
  • Modeling structural elements: beams, columns, slabs, foundations, and walls.
  • Defining loads and load combinations for structural systems.
  • Preparing the Revit model for export to Robot Structural Analysis.
3. Structural Analysis in Robot Structural Analysis Professional
  • Importing structural models from Revit to Robot Structural Analysis.
  • Assigning and analyzing loads, including gravity, live, and wind loads.
  • Performing wind simulations to assess structural behavior under wind pressure.
  • Performing stability checks and finite element analysis.
  • Reviewing analysis results and identifying structural deficiencies.
4. Wind Simulation and Interpretation of Results
  • Setting up wind parameters based on BS and Eurocodes.
  • Running wind simulations for various building geometries and orientations.
  • Analyzing wind-induced forces, pressure distribution, and deflection.
  • Integrating wind simulation results with other load analyses.
5. Interpreting Analysis Results
  • Understanding key outputs: reaction forces, bending moments, and deflection.
  • Optimizing structural components based on analysis results.
  • Ensuring compliance with BS and Eurocode requirements.
6. Integration and Documentation in Revit
  • Exporting analysis results, including wind simulation data, from Robot Structural Analysis back to Revit.
  • Generating structural drawings: plans, sections, and elevations.
  • Creating detailed schedules for reinforcement and structural elements.
  • Applying annotations and tags to structural elements.
7. Advanced Features and Workflows
  • Using parametric modeling for structural optimization.
  • Collaborating with other disciplines using BIM workflows.
  • Exporting models for fabrication and construction purposes.
8. Practical Project Work
  • End-to-end workflow application on a real-world structural project.
  • Integrating wind simulation and structural analysis into design decisions.
  • Collaborative design review and quality assurance.
  • Presentation of final documentation and drawings.

This course equips participants with advanced skills in structural modeling, wind simulation, and analysis, enabling them to handle complex design challenges in real-world projects effectively.
